Prayer Requests 2/25/10

For a feeding like ours, which reaches out to the chronically homeless and street people of this area, it used to be unusual to see any children amongst the crowd. As a rule, 80% or 90% of our guests each week are usually adult men.

Then a few months ago, we started seeing more families. We prepared a special table for them at the front of the dining room where they could be served first and receive special attention. We gathered toys and dolls and toothbrushes and cars to give the children as gifts. But this week was the first in my memory in which we seated the "family table" twice over because we had so many children and parents needing meals.

Towards the end of the feeding, one beautiful little girl walked over to me (with her dad close behind) and asked to put a prayer request in my bag. "Look at it!" she commanded. In a child's careful printing, she had written her name: "Precious".

Please pray for Precious, and her brother, and all the precious children who don't have enough of what they need. Pray for the families who are struggling to pay electric bills and to afford warm clothes and keep food on the table.

And pray that through our actions and words in service to our Lord, all those with whom we come in contact will know how precious they are to Him.
Blessings, Erika
