For more than 20 years, this ministry has offered both physical and spiritual nourishment to the homeless and street people of Fort Lauderdale.
Every Thursday afternoon, a team of volunteers gathers in Christ Church's Fort Lauderdale kitchen to cook a full-course, individually packaged hot meal. These meals are then delivered to Hope Central on Andrews Avenue downtown, where another team of volunteers serves this sit-down meal to more than 200 homeless individuals and families. The ministry also coordinates with other providers in Broward County that offer shelter, bus passes, clothing, and other services.
Love in Action's goal is to share God's love through actions and words.
"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."
John 13:14-15
Many people in this area of Broward County face serious daily economic and spiritual hardships. For many of our guests, something as simple as starting off the day clean is beyond their reach.
Our homeless friends are in ongoing need of the following new items. Can you help?
-- bar of soap
-- shampoo
-- razor
-- toothpaste & toothbrush
-- deodorant
-- socks
-- sunscreen
-- small comb
-- lip balm
If you or your group is interested in contributing any of these desperately needed items, please contact flanzile@aol.com
